Leadership and successful business is synonymous and one of the most important issues that are making businesses fail or succeed. Leadership mobilises, motivates, and focuses the people on the set objectives. It ensures loyalty and willingness to do what is necessary to achieve. Leaders determine and create the environment within which people work and thus whether they will be chasing objectives themselves because they want too or whether they have to be pushed by management. Leaders can be enabling or disabling depending on whether they are leading from the front or having an attitude of “Follow me, I am right behind you” Different cultures have different influence on leadership styles. In the developing world leaders are appointed on the strength of who they are, from which family they come or who they know with the obvious consequences. Leadership is a behavioural science and the behaviour is determined by values and values are directly related to what we believe.
