Orca, also known as killer whale, are intelligent and curious marine mammal. They can live up to 80 years old in the wild. They dive 100 to 500 feet deep every day, several times a day. On average, they swim 40 miles a day in the wild because they need to exercise and to forage for varied diets.
Captivity and living under confinement shorten orcas’ lifespan. Orcas are evolved to swim for long distances, and they do not like to be kept in a small tank. They are stressed out when kept in a confined environment. They are most happy when they live with their family and are free in the ocean.
