For centuries, the Yezidi peoples of Kurdistan have been practicing their mysterious religion in secret, despite endless persecution and false accusations of devil-worship. In reality, they worship Melek Taus, the benevolent Peacock Angel, alongside a host of other celestial beings and prophets. Behind their faith is a complex and fascinating system of mythology that has continually baffled historians and scholars of religion seeking a concrete categorization of its origin. Contained herein is a selection of what Yezidi texts are currently available, in hopes of providing an honest and unbiased look at the beliefs of this much-misunderstood ethnoreligious group.
Contents include:
-Kitab Al Jilwah, The Book of Illumination
-Meshaf Res, The Black Book of Creation
-Hymns
-Commentary
These texts, while in public domain and available in other formats, are now all collected in print in a straightforward and untainted format for the first time.
Comes hardbound in cloth with a dust jacket.
