My Journey

MY JOURNEY is an autobiography of Illinois educator, J. Lee Rushing. His journey began in 1912 on the Rushing family farm which overlooked fields and orchards in southern Illinois. Lee's humble beginning sparked a lifelong spirit of independence, achievement, and a determination to better his life through education. This book documents J. Lee Rushing's personal life as a caring head of the family and his professional life as a teacher, coach, and high school principal in southern and northern Illinois. MY JOURNEY presents ancestral photos, a family tree, and a nine decade photo album that includes family, career, and historic pictures. The final chapter is a reproduction of the original manuscript written by J. Lee Rushing in his late eighties.
