This book takes place during the American Civil War. We join a 21 year old boy named Will Stevens, who grew up on a farm in Boston. He joins the army with his cousin who has already enlisted. He quickly falls into George G Meade’s ranks and is sent to Cold Harbor where he soon experiences the horrors of the war. This story is a tale of Will’s violent journey through the war and his promise to mom to come back home alive.
