"It's the same every day. He
limps into the bar, sits third stool
from the left. His ruffled hat blocks
the light from his rugged, torn face.
He doesn't lift his head. "The usual,
Gray," he mutters. The bartender
doesn't look at him; nobody does.
The bartender just pulls an unlabeled
black bottle from behind the counter
and pours him a pint of the thick,
musky lager. It would be the same as
any other day, but one thing makes it
different; I sat next to him and said
"Hello.""
A tragic sailor's tale, Ellis takes you into the life of a sailor of the same name, and tells you the tale of his broken physique and countenance.
