Survey Chaining Corrections

Survey Chaining Corrections

ByJames Girard Badinger

Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Survey Chaining Corrections are used to correct the errors caused by non-standardized conditions that can affect the “true” measurement being made by a Survey Crew when using a “Steel Survey Tape” (a.k.a. a Survey Chain). Conversion between Units of Measurement (International Foot, U.S. Survey Foot & Meters), Temperature Conversion (Fahrenheit to Celsius & vice versa) and Corrections to Temperature, Tension, Sag, Non-Standard Length, and Slope Distance are explained to aid the Surveyor in finding the “best possible” distance so that an accurate Survey can be performed. Examples are given in Systematic Instructions to illustrate how the “formula” for each Conversion/Correction being made shows how the answer is derived.
