My practice at the moment is concerned with domestic or personal work spaces and the objects contained within. Recent projects have involved temporary sculptural arrangements that decisively re-position familiar objects within an architectural space. Through procedures of removal, stacking, in-filling, photographing, and replacement, my actions attempt to reorder the relationships among heterogeneous objects in a room. These temporary installations examine and reorganize systems of identity, history, and function that aim to overturn the normal status of physical movement and residual personal memory. This thesis document highlights the importance, for me, of Michel Foucault and Martin Heidegger, notions of the Uncanny, and the constructed ‘reminiscences’ of Kurt Schwitters’ Merzbau piece.
