Many believers in Jesus know about abiding in the Vine in John 15, but few realize what “abide (= stay) in My love” means. This command seems so easy to obey and fulfill, but Jesus surrounded it with two analogies. Examining it and its context closer reveals this command's key point: to live as Jesus lived on earth – our calling and opportunity to live as Jesus did, in a two-way loving fellowship with our Father God that can produce our full obedience from loving Him. 1John’s follow up to John’s Gospel is extensive and essential for believers today, but is rarely seen. 2John can confirm this life. Not seeing what John and 1John truly say has weakened our personal and corporate life and growth in God. The lack of seeing this life-changing content today comes largely from not fully realizing the strong evidence in the Bible for 1John as a precise follow up of John 14-15 for those who knew John’s Gospel well. Connecting them so tightly has been “hidden before our eyes” by not realizing how John used a Greek conjunction ina about 25 times (out of his 213 ina’s) to CONNECT a PROJECTED OUTCOME to a key SOURCE of it. {I find ina as “so that” fits all 213 ina’s in their contexts (often not a shorter “that” or “to-verb”). I show this for each ina in “Abide in Jesus”, also at Lulu (or probably wherever you are seeing Stay’s preview).} Realizing John’s predominant meaning – “source-ina-projected-outcome” – in 25 crucial ina’s reveals John 15’s “abide in Vine-Jesus” as a major missed theme in John’s Gospel, and as the major theme in 1John that reveals it as a coherent unit with a simple, smooth, orderly flow of content throughout 1John. Who has seen each as each theme? But the EVIDENCE God put in John’s Gospel and 1-2John lets us examine, test, and KNOW CLEARLY THE TRUTHS HE PUT there, especially if we ask Him for this wisdom as John 5:39-40 and James 1:5 can show us. I find much evidence in John’s books that he often used terms with meanings uniquely shown in his Gospel that 1-2John receivers already knew well, and these terms add much VITAL CONTENT FOR US that truly is RESTORED content receivers easily knew. I write “Stay in My Love” for seekers of God’s life-giving truths to examine and test what John’s Scriptures truly tell us. Then with God we learn and walk in His life-giving truth while translators who know much relevant information from many perspectives also examine, test, know, and translate the full content God gives His children through John.
