Stay in My Love
Jesus' Hidden Command and Our Opportunity

Many believers in Jesus know about abiding in the Vine in John 15, but few realize what “abide (= stay) in My love” means. This command there seems so easy to obey and fulfill, but Jesus surrounded it with two analogies. Examining it and its context closer reveals this command's key point: to live like Jesus lived on earth in a key way. It is our calling and opportunity to live as Jesus did, in fellowship with our Father God with full obedience from love.
Some believers realize our great opportunity from John 15 or other Scriptures, but who realizes that this is a theme of John’s whole Gospel and 1John? English readers do not see this theme because a translation of “ina” has veiled how well-known verses relate to John 15’s staying in Jesus. We can see "stay in Jesus" as a theme, and can see a fuller and far simpler flow of content in John and 1John with a well justified meaning of “so that” for John’s ina (instead of a shorter “that” or “to”). We can also see more of a believer’s foundation needed for his/her life on earth: ina as “so that” reveals sources of vital outcomes and shows why most of us have not fully moved into them, which can be part of equipping us to move better into God's calling.
