Ripple Effect takes place in Detroit Michigan a city with not only financial problems but crime and gangs as well. It is a fist person narrative in the eyes of Marcus Smith who is also the protagonist of the novel. Marcus is a FBI agent who is a hero in the eyes of his peers, his world changes as a new criminal organization called the Grizzles are taking over government and every major industry. His life changes as he attempts to bring down the gang.
