Jane Austen was a prominent British writer and novelist, widely known for her masterpiece: Pride and Prejudice (1813). She also wrote other books: Sense and Sensibility (1811), Mansfield Park (1814), Emma (1815), Northanger Abbey (1818) and Persuasion (1818). In her best-seller, Pride and Prejudice, a strong criticism against British high society persists, abuse of power by religious authorities, and the discrimination that women suffered at that time.
