Dear Enemy

The sequel to Daddy-Long-Legs by Mark Twain's grand-niece. This time the letter writer is Sallie McBride, Judy Abbott's college mate in Daddy-Long-Legs. The recipients of the letters are the president of the orphanage where Sallie is filling in until a new director can be installed, his wife - Judy Abbott, and the orphanage's doctor (to whom Sallie addresses her letters: "Dear Enemy")and her friend Gordon Hallock. The book follows the trials and tribulations of everyday life managing the orphanage and her fiery relationship with the local doctor and Gordon who wants her to resign and marry him. A great read
