The Flint Project, was pieced together from photos taken of Flint natives that were willing to pose with a cigar. I emailed the photos with three questions: Who are you and what is your relationship with Flint? Where is the violence in Flint? How should Flint be marketed? I was concerned about our ranking as third most violent. I received some interesting answers, especially from those of us who actually frequent downtown Flint.
What I found out is that collectively we are frank, open, blunt, we say what we mean, we don't pussy foot around an issue. We've been through so many tough times together that we're likely to talk openly about things that others would find too personal or embarrassing. To help someone out, but, if we don't intend to help, if we're offended for some reason, we'll let you know that, too. How did we acquire our personality? and how can we help Flint survive? these are two of the topics discussed in this narration along with many other questions.
