This "manifesto" is a vision statement for the Mennonite Church of the Servant (MCS). It is a proposal and is intended to invite conversation with the members of MCS. The manifesto envisions MCS walking on the Path of Christ with both Anabaptists and Monastics. The traditions and practices of both Anabaptists and Monastics should work together to help the church remain true to Christ in the perilous times ahead. The manifesto has four parts. The first three offers an interpretation of MCS's three identity statements. Based on those interpretations, the fourth part argues that MCS, like other Anabaptists, have strong affinities with traditional monasticism and the emerging new monasticism. This proposal suggests that MCS would benefit from identifying with both Anabaptists and monastics, because it will clarify MCS unique identity and mission, enable MCS to benefit explicitly from monastics insights, disciplines, and guidance, and attract like-minded followers of Christ.
