Julie's Spring

Watching, not perving, in itself isn’t bad—as long as everyone is OK with it—but you have to be careful, everyone knows that. You must stay on the right side of the line. You must. I guess it’s a form of flirting. Flirting is OK, but you have to keep it light. I don’t think Lee and I crossed the line, but I’ll leave it to the reader to judge. All of the sexually active characters in this story are eighteen years of age or older. Author's Note: An earlier version of this story appeared as "Julie" (2014). "Julie" went places that were too uncomfortable—and proved to be too explicit—for many retailers and for some readers as well. Accordingly, "Julie’s Spring" leaves the details of whatever the narrator and other characters may have been up to as teenagers to the reader’s imagination, and omits some other troubling aspects of the earlier story. The author hopes that nevertheless readers will find "Julie’s Spring" an entertaining and engaging account of Julie, her friends, and her family.
