Job - A Verse by Verse Commentary

Job - A Verse by Verse Commentary

ByJohn Becker

Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
The Book of Job brings us face to face with one of life’s oldest and deepest questions: Why do the righteous suffer? Job was not a careless man, a wicked man, or a hypocrite hiding secret sin. He was a man God Himself called upright. Yet in a single season, he lost his possessions, his children, his health, and the comfort of those who should have helped him most. This verse-by-verse commentary walks through Job’s sorrow, his questions, the arguments of his friends, the speeches of Elihu, and finally the voice of God speaking out of the whirlwind. Along the way, we are reminded that faith is not pretending pain does not hurt. Faith is clinging to God when we cannot understand what He is doing. Job never received every explanation he wanted, but he received something greater. He saw the Lord.
