Refreshing the Odour.......

The book succinctly, accurately and humorously describes many and varied wilful meanderings beginning in central England and ending (often most) within Scotland’s Outer Hebrides. The same pages also trace the author’s personal academic development from bird ringing, spotty teenager, via insect collecting undergraduate and flagrantly exploited post doctoral researcher, to the lofty heights of research professor in a post ’92 British university. A passion for both science and music has deliberately shaped the narrative on many occasions whence the author has paused to reflect upon the chaos and inconsistency that is evident within academia, the U.K. and the wider world beyond. Hence, amongst many scathing contemplations, celebrity culture is summarily dismissed as an abhorrent intrusion to life and the incumbent occupant of Number 10 Downing Street is positively identified as an alien invader with erectile forehead.
