These four studies for piano solo were composed in 1984. Each etude features one of the four ancient elements. Ariel's Invention (Air), Earth Dance of the Mugwumps (Earth), Fireflies (Fire) and The Rainmaker's Song (Water). Technical demands include cross handed playing, extreme dynamics and differentiation of lines.
