D.H. Lawrence and Nottingham

Lawrence was born in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire, and made frequent visits to Nottingham. He went to school at Nottingham High School, worked in a factory on Castle Gate, described a visit to the City with his mother in Sons and Lovers, wrote a short story about Goose Fair and attended University College Nottingham. Today the University of Nottingham holds an extensive collection of works by and about him in its Manuscripts and Special Collections.
