About Jordan A. Thomas

I'm 29 years old and I have Autism. I couldn't talk till I was over the age of five and it was a long time before I said anything that people understood and listened to. I went through school and life living with this condition that affects every part of my day, every day. I'm not an expert or a doctor but I hope by writing about Autism I will give people what it's like for me and this this can help them gain an understanding of Autism in general. I reflect back on seeing my parents struggle. I think of how I felt in situations and how education was presented to me. The therapies and interventions I was enrolled or subjected to. How annoying it is to have words, thoughts and feelings in my head but not be able to communicate them verbally and how alternative methods of communication have helped me. I look at what I have achieved over the last 29 years and how I achieved it. I have an amazing voluntary job now because one person saw potential where others only saw problems.
