GOOD WORKS OR SALVATION

When St. James said, “Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by works, is dead” (James 2:17), many of his readers have never paused to ask themselves: ‘What faith?’ and ‘whose works?’ But they simply pride themselves on the scoreboard of their good works without taking cognizance of the type of faith they have embraced. And could the servant of God be referring to any type of faith and anybody’s works? Or did he have any specific faith and works in mind? If so, why is God only interested in such specific faith and works? This book is a modest attempt to answer these questions with a view to appealing to those who have misconstrued his remarks to have a change of heart and get their bearings right unto the salvation of their souls. For those who are already on the right track, I earnestly pray that they may be encouraged by this book to be faithful to the end in Jesus’ name. Amen.
