MISSIONARY OR MERCENARY

This book is a special tribute to the late John W. Badcock, the pioneer missionary Principal of St. Barnabas’ Secondary School,Kabba (1962-1968), on the occasion of this school's Diamond Jubilee. Although he was a principal in a mission school, he obviously exemplified Christ's love for all mankind without discrimination by admitting all qualified students to the school, regardless of their ethnic or religious background. This missionary virtue has remained an indelible memory in the hearts of both the school and community in which he assiduously and selflessly served.
In obedience to Christ's commands, he turned his back on all the luxuries, comforts and conveniences of Britain, shunned morbid materialism, took up his cross and came down to Kabba to build up a mission secondary school that is today the envy of the so-called Government Secondary Schools. It is not surprising therefore that this community rechristened him as Mr. 'Goodcock' for his exceptional contributions to its educational development.
