This book is a reproduction of the first edition of Clovis Dardentor published by Sampson Low in England in 1897. 45 of the 47 original French illlustrations are included in this Sampson Low edition. This humorous tale is of two cousins who travel from France to Algeria to join the African Legion but meet up with a millionaire on the boat trip across the Mediterranean. Never published in the US, it has only been available from rare book dealers for upwards of $6000. It is now available from the <b>Choptank Press</b> for the first time in the United States. This is a <i>Heritage Edition</i> which is a republication of the original Victorian text.
