
An anthology of stories, poems and songs relating the sensational murder of John Johnson by Laurence Shirley, Earl Ferrers, which took place at Staunton Harold Hall in 1760. The Earl was subsequently hanged for the crime and achieved additional notoriety by becoming the last peer of the realm to suffer capital punishment.
