A Polar Night's Tale

In search of snow, adventure, polar bears and the beautiful but elusive Northern Lights, Julie Hunt heads to the northmost wildernesses of Europe in an adventure of a lifetime that takes her from Helsinki, jewel of the Baltic, to the frozen swamps and twenty-four hour darkness of the High Arctic. Travelling alone through some of the most beautiful and most inhospitable landscapes on the planet, by plane and train and boat, she learns how to walk on snowshoes (after a fashion), nearly gets killed on a dogsled, scales a sheer ice wall and finds a hot spring to relax in during a snowstorm. And the Northern Lights? Well, no one ever mentions how long you're going to spend standing outside in the cold looking for them.
