This collection of twelve short stories looks at the lives of people who are significant in some way. Laconia, New Hampshire and Boston, used here, were the settings for 1950s tales that might have appeared in Yankee Magazine. A few are set in Charleston, South Carolina. Many of the main characters are working women with jobs at low rungs of the ladder. Two train ride stories will bring back memories for some...the author has taken many trips by train in New England and the South.
