People say ghosts can wander for years looking for a way to get revenge on those who have hurt them. I know this to be true because I have wandered this desert in a fit of unrest for 50 years. I’m not sure what has brought me here to this body, but something did, for I feel drawn to her like a moth to a flame. I wonder if this is the body that will give me my revenge. There she lay, a beautiful body so freshly dead. This body. Different from my last body. She was tall, blonde, and shapely like the movie star, Jean Harlow. My last body had been small, frail, black hair, dark eyes, and dark skin. I watched her for signs that her spirit. back to life. I knew it was now or never if I was to return, I needed to do it soon. I climbed up on top of the body. Slowly I allowed my spirit to merge into her. It seemed so easy at first to merge into the body that had recently seemed so lifeless. The merging of her last thoughts to mine had begun. My first breath hurt. It hurt in ways I had not realized it could, after all the 50 years I had forgotten what pain felt like. I had thought I was numb to feelings altogether. I began to feel all the fear that had consumed her before she died. Then came the waves of pain. My chest hurt, my head throbbed, I sat up and screamed because of the overwhelming pain. The body went into muscle spasms. I began pulling at the sheet that covered my head. Arms and legs thrashed around. Each breath was labored. I could feel the heart pounding as if it would explode. I was fighting for my life, my new life.
