Clifton Forge, VA: 21 Projects

Clifton Forge, Virginia is symptomatic of many previously prosperous American towns, struggling to survive as the industries which fueled their growth continue to abandon them. It is within this context that the students were asked to design solutions to the revitalization of the town, focusing on the downtown area. After several months of research, each student proposed a project which included housing, retail, parking and public space(s). The students were encouraged to bring quantity and specificity to each element of the program and to clearly articulate the intention of their designs.
