This elegant Arithmetic Notebook features cover artwork by 19th-century Dutch artist Gerard Bilders, along with a short biography on the back to inspire curiosity and connection. Inside are ¼-inch gridded pages and a title page for the student’s name. Gridded notebooks offer a clear, organized space for mathematical work. The fine grid supports precision in written arithmetic and algebra, helping students align equations neatly and track place value with accuracy. As mathematical concepts grow more complex, the visual structure of the grid allows students to focus on the work itself rather than on managing the layout of their writing. Although Charlotte Mason did not explicitly require the use of grid paper, its orderly format aligns well with the values she emphasized in education, such as attention, neatness, and thoughtful effort. We agree with the recommendation of the Charlotte Mason Elementary Arithmetic Series of square grids for written work. The ¼-inch grid is ideal for older students, typically beginning in grade seven and continuing through upper-level work. The notebook contains forty-six gridded pages, providing generous space for lessons while maintaining a manageable scope. Its pages lie flat for ease of use and offer a clean, uncluttered layout that supports focus and care.
