Where Bear and Eagle Meet

Bear, the earthly material world and eagle, the cosmos, meet in a place of balance. My understanding of balance is that it is not static but a dance between opposite forces. All of the images within this body of work were not premeditated but rather born in the moment where colours meet, a place of balance. This way of painting led me to discover a creative process that I have named the 7 keys to balance. Working with the process gave birth to the body of work presented in this book. Each piece was born from a different color of the rainbow and is completed with a poem that reflects the message from that particular ray of color. The artworks are presented in this book like the way a rainbow is born, beginning in the darkness of water laden clouds ending in the light of the sun. They were completed using wet on wet and veil watercolor painting, pastels and colored pencils.
