In the 21st century, the United States is a vibrant mosaic of cultures, ethnicities, and races. As society progresses, so must our perception of leadership. Kamala Harris, the current Vice President of the United States and a potential presidential candidate, has sparked significant conversation around her identity. She is the first woman of African American and South Asian descent to hold the vice presidency. While her ethnicity and race are important aspects of her identity, they should not be the sole or even primary determinants of her qualifications for higher office. Instead, the focus should be on her experience, policies, and leadership qualities. This eBook will explore why Kamala Harris’ race and ethnicity should not define her candidacy for the U.S. presidency.
