I have been surrounded all my life by images of a culture which highly values physical beauty and wholeness, a culture which denies difference. My identity as a women, is one that is durable sensual, sexual, adaptable, accommodating and opinionated. The work is about finding a new identity for myself as a women, finding an identity for other women, defined by women and it is my right to define that identity and its politic for myself. My Art is what I do and how I live. I paint the things around me, the things I know and feel comfortable and uncomfortable with. It is an acknowledgement of life; a confession of my feelings and a celebration of the painting process.
