How can we make a difference?

Race and Ethnicity Based Education: Local Solutions Due to the growing multiculturalism in Europe, the need to challenge inequality, injustice, racism, stereotypes and prejudices in the classroom and in schools is becoming more and more important. In the project “Race and Ethnicity Based Education: Local Solutions” (REBELS), the developments leading to a multicultural Europe are identified, analysed and presented as learning materials for a web based e-learning environment. The book contains a theoretical framework based on critical multiculturalism, four ethnographies as well as a detailed evaluation and analysis of the whole project. The first draft of the book was discussed with the participating students. Additionally, school teachers and teacher educators were invited to comment at an international Conference in Konya , Turkey, in June 2007. All these reflections are part of the book.
