This book helps parents teach good manners & appropriate social behavior to their kids. It goes from everyday situations (how to eat elegantly from a bottle at a picnic or how to hold a fast-food cheeseburger or taco) to formal and very formal events. Strong emphasis is placed upon kindness, respect for others by not hurting their feelings, questions that should never be asked, & minimizing tattling and complaints against one another. It includes fun ways to teach, & advocates for warm welcomes to newcomers, whether immigrants to a country or new students to a school. This book reflects a family tradition that, on one hand, taught the author all the etiquette rules, but on the other, and even much more emphatically, by word and example from parents and grandparents taught her about equality, social sensitivity, and social justice. That is what the book is about: etiquette shouldn't be just for a few, but for all.
