Gabrielle and Marian, two medieval musicians, retreat from public life as performers into the mountains of south-eastern France in the Pyrenees, to search for an authentic medieval sound. This was the land of poet-minstrels called Troubadours and a mystical sect of Christians called the Cathars, or the Good. Their new life is calm until Gabrielle has a terrible accident and hangs by a thread to life. They are not within reach of emergency services and decide to cope alone. As Gabrielle almost falls into a coma, she starts to talk deliriously. But soon Marian realises that she is telling a magical story. The story not only heals her physical injuries, but her tormented nature.
