Steno Drills 101

This book is a compilation of drills written over a period of time in an effort to give my students the tools to overcome the categories of errors most made on dictation tests. I am an on-site and online court reporting instructor and grade hundreds of dictation tests each year. In the process of that grading, it seemed that the same kinds of mistakes were being made over and over again; so for a year, I kept an accounting of categories of errors made on dictation tests. The result of that accounting was that briefs and phrases, contractions, word endings, alphabet, and numbers were the categories in which most steno errors were made. I looked around for drills for my students to help resolve the problems they were having in these five categories. I could find number drills but not drills for the other four categories; so I began to create drills, week by week, until I had a year’s worth of drills to assign to my students. This book contains those drills.
