Spring of the year 1720... Blandine Veyre, a young middle-class lady, lives with her family in the majestic Phocaean city located in the south of the Kingdom of France. To celebrate her 16th birthday, she receives a wonderful present, a leasure travel in the company of her brother, a naval Officer, aboard an imposing three-masted ship called the ‘Lacydon’. But very soon, this voyage will turn into a succession of unexpected and sometimes painful as well as solitary adventures. At last, she will know suffering, fear, and a quite new life, an improbable existence, when the red-haired pirate lady, the so-called ‘Brigantine’ appears... “For the first time, the mighty Brigantine did appreciate my help. She remains crouched on the wooden floor and I can see that her hands, laid flat on the ground and hardly supporting her, begin to tremble... I suddenly feel sorrow, I discover this so-called invincible young woman again, the one who repeatedly frightened me, offended me and even put me down on several occasions. Now she is here, just in front of me, miserably kneeling on the deck of our ship, with her long fingers that shiver more and more. From now on she looks like a pitiable, sick, wounded and destitute person. She still carries this big spider on her shoulder which unfortunately can’t assist her, ridiculous and useless mascot!”
