IMPERO (empire) uses traditional female handicrafts such as knitting, crochet, embroidery, and weaving as resilient, contemporary forms of communication to transform ephemera into narrative sculpture and performance.
In ancient times, the arts women were allowed to practice were mostly decorative arts. Among these the most common were knitting, embroidery and weaving This did not prevent many of them from expressing their feelings through the use of these crafts. Traditional female handicrafts are not only a decorative technique but a testament of history that can be used as a powerful form of communication
