Eastwind

Like tufts of tumbleweed, tangle-twisted and unruly, surrendered to the eastern wind, they rolled across the prairie. Driven by hunger, greed, curiosity and a thirst for endless exploration,they arrived in droves, swarming the west like bees in an undiscovered garden. Among them, Jonas Whit, from the town of Ashcroft, Connecticut, stricken with wanderlust, pulled by the lure of gold and adventure on a distant and unimaginable frontier. Through letters to his sister Caroline and via his own gradual passage over land and trail, we follow Jonas as he stumbles headlong into the very birth of the Colorado Gold Rush, finding fear, courage, inspiration, despair - and ultimately connection - deep in the crags and granite folds of the vast, breathtaking Rocky Mountain wilderness.
