Inscription presents a delightful interplay between poetry and writing. Inscription is an highly unusual and beautifully conceived text-image work, touching on themes of death and desire, through a mytho-poetic sequence of poems and photographs; exploring the fierce scars of textual embodiment and the radiant light of reading, based in lived experience. The body of this book and the body of writing are composed into a mesh; of wonderful photographs, interspersed with powerful poems. The photographs show handwriting written directly onto skin; her skin being the only clothing that a body might wear as here at times. In one other stunning instance her body is wound in silk cloth (representing a tongue) that has been hand painted onto, while she stands at the sea's edge either about to unwind or having just wound parts of the text around her.
Textual embodiment rarely looked and sounded so good.
