Freeing Lyon takes you to the beating heart of the capital of the French Resistance, to a city where ordinary people commit extraordinary acts, and at a terrible cost, to defeat both foreign invaders and the enemy within. From Nazi conquest and Vichy collaboration, through British interference, Gestapo depravity and American bombs, Lyon endured so much during World War II. Yet perhaps the greatest conflict took place in the heads and hearts of its bitterly divided population. Heroes, villains and all those in between battle with loss, love and terrible circumstance in a story that invites its reader to consider the question: what would I have done?
