Published in 1984 by Charle L. Webster, Tom Sawyer Abroad was Twain's eighth novel following on from Puddn'head Wilson which was released in the same year. Featuring Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn and Jim, the plot is essentially a Jules Verne pastiche that has the characters flying in a balloon to Africa where they encounter a variety of dangers while visiting some of the Continent's greatest wonders. Like its eponymous predecessor, the story is told in the vernacular voice of Huck Finn.
