I was a Computer Scientist for nearly forty years.. Although the idea of writing had always been lurking in the back of my mind, it wasn't until a group of my masters students insisted that I write a book, that I seriously considered it. This was Boundless Wealth. They said they'd buy it, and they did! Sadly, nobody from the publishing world would touch it. Stories about encryption, however fascinating, would never sell they said. By the time the buying public had proved them all wrong, I was so disillusioned with the commercial publishing world that I'd moved on to Lulu.com. Interestingly, Bob Young and his ground-breaking Lulu.com was fulfilling a prediction that I made to a bunch of lecturers in 1984 when I stated that print-on-demand would revolutionise the publishing world. .
The above paragraph was written in 2020. Since then I’ve written nineteen books and three short plays, all published through Lulu! It’s one of the great joys in my life, not only to write, but to craft a book from, literally, cover to cover. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve told the story of how Lulu came into being and what a great resource it is for anyone with a story inside them. There is only truism in writing. Forget trawling through your work for obscure grammatical errors, or even the odd typo. The story is king. If it’s a good story, then errors will never detract from giving the reader something to think about. Once again, thanks, Bob!
