Frankenstein has become one of the easiest to recognize characters ever created. Mary Shelley's now infamous story about a misunderstood creature afraid of lightening and fire initially met controversy and was banned under apartheid in South Africa for being “indecent, objectionable or obscene.” Proceeds from this book will go to the American Library Association.
