How far would you go to carry out your convictions? 17-year-old Lenora leaves the refuge of her paradise home in Aruba to become mistress of a plantation in 19th century Louisiana. Once there, she sets in motion a covert operation to liberate the slaves that labor on her manor. Freedom’s Compass dances across the globe. This story begins on the gold coast of Ghana, gravitates to England and finally arrives in religiously tolerant Holland. The love story of Lenora’s parents unfolds in the Netherlands, but when tragedy strikes,it catapults her father to dive into his work on a wind energy project on the Dutch colony of Aruba. Here, Lenora's constant companion is Celeste, an Asante princess who was enslaved as a teenager and is later adopted into Lenora’s humanist family. The Girondi family lives a legacy of rationality, value education and believes in sacrifice for the sake of the downtrodden in society.
