Kett's Rebellion

Norwich, England 1549 and land enclosures meant that families were starving. A group of men went to the home of farmer Robert Kett in Wymondham and tore down his enclosures. Robert Kett decided that the men had a point and asked them if he could lead them. They agreed and they marched to Norwich and camped on Mousehold Heath. A list of demands were sent to the King. Robert and his brother William along with their men beat one Royal army before loosing to a second. William was hanged at Wymondham Abbey and Robert was hanged at Norwich Castle.
