At Manhattan North Hospital, Steve Coughlin's job is complicated by an invisible companion - epilepsy. Its seizures threaten to control his life. When he becomes a patient of the hospital's best neurologist, he hopes she can stop them. They've nearly killed him more than once and his luck won't hold out forever. But the unexpected hospitalizations and drug changes she recommends turn his life upside-down. His wife leaves him. He's demoted at work. The hospital's human resources department, in collusion with his doctor, insists he he "voluntarily" commit himself to the psychiatric hospital or look for new work. He complies and is fired anyway. Jobless and alone, he confides in his friend Melissa. They grow close and wind up in the hospital's crosshairs. Hallucinations, suicides, cyber-stalkers and other nightmares will make them fear for their sanity and lives before they find out why it's all happening.
