This book is titled ''African Communication System: Principles, Application & Prospects''.Communication is a phenomenon and humans engage in the act of communication through various channels for the purpose of interaction, co-existence and building of relationships. These channels are used also to disseminate information among people in the society. Before the introduction of modern mass media in traditional African communities, there existed other reliable channels of communication that enabled our forbearers to interact and maintain a stable system of living. Information from traditional leaders and other constituted authorities in traditional communities was passed freely and effectively to members of the community. Even in this modern age of globalization, where several of our rural communities are completely or partially without the existence of modern mass media, information is still disseminated among the people through the indigenous media, even in times of emergencies like war or life threatening situations. This book provides students and teachers of African Communication Systems the basic knowledge, principles, application and prospect of the African traditional communication. However, this book has not entirely provided all relevant themes under African Communication Systems. The author of this book does not claim perfection of this work but any criticism or controversy that maybe identified would form the basis with which subsequent editions will be improved.
