250 YEAR FREEDOM

250 years. For two and a half centuries, Americans have sought to build a nation founded on liberty, self-government, and the belief that our rights come from God—not from government. Many have believed that the United States has a unique calling to be a "city upon a hill," serving as an example to the world of freedom, justice, and the dignity with which people should live, govern, and treat one another. This book explores the original meaning and intent of the two documents that laid the foundation for that vision: the Declaration of Independence and the first ten amendments to the United States Constitution. By returning to their original words and historical context, we can better understand the principles that have shaped our nation for 250 years.
