About Michael Turney

Mike and Barb Turney are a cruising couple living aboard their 42' ketch, Nelleke which they describe as a three bedroom apartment with two bathrooms but no parking. Mike started sailing with his father at the tender age of 11, and spent some time making deliveries up and down the eastern seaboard of North America. After she met Mike, it was almost a foregone conclusion that Barb would take to the sailing lifestyle as well. That was some time ago and now their home port is Halifax, Nova Scotia, but they have spent the last 15 years sailing the Atlantic from Newfoundland to the Caribbean. Their books are a means to share their interests and they hope to provide other cruisers and planners with the benefits of some of their experience as well as that of other sailors they have met.
